A joint effort between the Slate Belt Council of Governments, Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce and the Slate Belt Community Partnership to apply for a $50,000 grant from Frontier Communications was completed earlier this summer. Although we were not successful in receiving the grant we did receive a generous donation from Frontier in the amount of $5000.   The funds may be used for any of these examples as they were written in the original grant. Façade improvement grants, street scape amenities, new technology to promote our local heritage, marketing the Slate Belt outside the immediate region, regional comprehensive plan, development of trails and other recreational projects.

Nominations are now being accepted for our annual recognition of the Business Person, Volunteer, Elected or Appointed Official of the Year and the Student Spirit Award. Now is your chance to nominate a deserving person. Simply send us your nominee’s name/business and your reason for the nomination by October 15th. See flyer.
